Anthem Foundation Makes Another Gift to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Irvine, CA, June 23, 2010—The Anthem Foundation has made a gift of $70,000 to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Department of Philosophy. This gift is being made in support of a new one-year Fellowship in Philosophy to be held by Dr. Jason Rheins.

Dr. Geoff Sayre-McCord, chair of the Department of Philosophy, commented that “We are proud that we provide an environment in which a range of positions and theories can be developed, tested, and refined, and we work hard to ensure that serious intellectual work is supported and rewarded. People who come here as visitors find this a congenial environment in which they can thrive. My sense is that this will be an especially good place for Dr. Rheins.”

This is the Foundation’s fifth gift to UNC Chapel Hill. “We are pleased to extend our support for the Department of Philosophy at UNC Chapel Hill, and for Dr. Rheins,” said Debi Ghate, senior director. “The Foundation welcomes the opportunity to facilitate the excellent scholarship emerging from this institution.”
